AINA
AINA (AI Network Alliance) was launched to accelerate this integration, evolving from the existing ORIA (Open RAN Industry Alliance) into a public-private organization of MSIT (Ministry of Science and ICT Technology) Korea. Motivated by Korea's ambition to become one of the top three AI nations (AI G3), AINA consolidates domestic ecosystems—including telecom operators, network vendors, cloud providers, universities, research institutes, standardization bodies, and AI/IoT stakeholders—to support government AI network policies, AI-RAN/Network R&D planning, and global collaborations like NVIDIA's K-Consortium and O-RAN/AI-RAN alliances.
AINA's mission is to secure global competitiveness in AI networks by accelerating market deployment and diffusion. Its strategic goals encompass three pillars: (1) Securing AI Network R&D Competitiveness through demand identification, strategic R&D linkages, and global standards cooperation; (2) AI Network Market Deployment and Diffusion via inter-industry collaborations and support of Hyper-AIX trials of NIA (National Information Society Agency, and (3) Establishing a Growth-Oriented Ecosystem Foundation by supporting network talent training, policy formulation and activating Net-AI ecosystem synergies through advisory committees, partnerships like K-AI x NVIDIA MoU, O-RAA/AI-RAN Alliances and international events like AI-RAN Summit.
Key activities include AI-RAN R&D planning (e.g., AI-on-RAN, fully autonomous driving networks), HYPER-AI pilot network construction and service discovery, O-RAN PlugFest cooperation, testing/certification expansion, international summits, and real-world demonstrations. AINA aligns with government initiatives to build testbeds, standardize responses, and promote commercialization.
Looking ahead, AINA's 2030 roadmap envisions Korea achieving AI network supremacy: from 2025's ‘Hyper-AI Network’ policy support and domestic promotion events, to 2026-2027's AI-on-RAN R&D prioritization, global alliances, and HYPER-AI demonstrations; culminating in 2028+ market expansions, promotions, and 5G-to-6G transitions. This will drive multi-dimensional business in communication, computing, sensing, intelligence, storage, and services, positioning Korea as a leader in hyper-intelligent networks and unlocking AI-driven economic growth.
